Harbor Freight Tools is recalling some 25,000 handgun safes because the door can pop open if the safe is dropped.
The recall involves two models of 0.17 cubic foot electronic safes sold under two different brand names, Union Safe Company and Bunker Hill Security.
The recalled safes are dark gray and the SKU number is printed on a permanent label on the door. The Union Safe Company product has an SKU number of 62984. For Bunker Hill Security, it’s 61581.
Both safes were sold by Harbor Freight Tools from November 2014 through February 2018 for about $65.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said owners should stop using the recalled safes, secure the handguns to keep them away from children, and return the safes to any Harbor Freight Tools location for a full refund in a gift card.
