Utz recalls Carolina-style BBQ chips for undeclared soy

HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) - Utz Quality Foods is recalling Carolina-style barbeque potato chips for a soy allergen that is not listed on the packaging.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy are at risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the chips.

No illnesses have been reported.

The recall involves 2.875-ounce bags with a UPC of 0-41780-00153-5 and expirations dates between Oct. 6 and Oct. 20, and 7.5 -ounce bags with a UPC of 0-41780-00049-1 and expiration dates from Aug. 18 to Oct. 27.

No other Utz products are being recalled.

The FDA says people who bought the recalled chips may return them to the store for a full refund or exchange.
