Former priest headed to trial, charged with molesting two boys

A former priest in the Harrisburg Catholic Diocese charged with molesting two boys is headed to trial.

Prosecutors said John Allen of York molested the altar boys between 1997-2002 while he was a pastor at St. Margaret Mary in Harrisburg. Allen was removed as pastor in 2002.

Police arrested Allen last month. The pope formally removed him from the priesthood in 2006.

He was named in the extensive statewide grand jury report into the Catholic church in Pennsylvania.
