Harrisburg police more casual for a good cause

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Members of the Harrisburg Bureau of Police are sporting different looks these days.

The men and women in blue are donating $30 to enjoy a more relaxed dress code.

More than 40 officers are taking part. The men are growing beards, and the women will be allowed to wear more visible makeup and nail polish.

The goal is to raise awareness about city residents who experience homelessness and hunger. The money raised is going to Downtown Daily Bread.

Police will also partner with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to help organizations and families in need.
