Help Lily Help Thon!

Halloween just ended and businesses owners at West Shore Plaza are already thinking about holiday shoppers.

The local “Shop Small” kickoff is Saturday. Today, a gathering inside Macris Chocolates is a fundraising effort in conjunction with the shopping event for The Four Diamonds Fund and THON, which supports pediatric cancer patients at Penn State Children’s Hospital. It’s a place, Lily Jordan, whose family owns the West Shore Plaza, knows well. Jordan fought pediatric cancer.

The 14-year-old Camp Hill student and amputee spent many nights at the children’s hospital. Jordan is heading up the “Giving Back” campaign. THON boxes will be located in business at West Shore Plaza. The hope is shoppers will drop in some cash as they shop during the month-long Shop Small event.

Jordan is hoping locals will come out and support the project and the plaza. When it comes to small businesses in Pennsylvania, 1 million employ 2.4 million people, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. At the West Shore Plaza, 60 percent of the tenant mix is small businesses. Many are women-owned.

Over the years, THON has raised $136 million for  the Four Diamonds Fund. Lily is  hoping you add more by filling the collection boxes.
