HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Round one of snowfall is behind us, but round two is on its way.
PennDOT crews were busy last night and into the early morning hours getting the roads ready.
They did a lot of pre-treatment before the snow began to fall, and crews did a lot of plowing to clear highways in all 8 counties.
Round two will present problems for drivers, a combination of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.
PennDOT crews are up to the challege. They will do what they can to clear roads, and make them as safe as possible.
"We are putting straight salt down, and we are treating the roads with straight salt now in the secondary roads that don't see a lot of traffic. We will use a 50-50 mix of anti skid and salt spread on the roadway to help melt the snow and sleet and the anti skid for traction," said Mike Crochunis, PennDOT District 8 Spokesperson.
PennDOT crews just went through a shift change at noon, as crews will be working in 12-hour shifts.
