Bethesda Mission hosted its annual community day on May 12th.
Organizers say it is an opportunity to let people in the area know that the mission is always available to serve the needs of the public.
In this year’s event, it included gospel music performances, plenty of food and games for children.
“The community is important I think as kids are growing up, or people in the community have shared experiences so just to know that people are here and we’re here for each other and we can do this stuff together I think it’s important to do that,” said Teen Reach manager, Andre Cooper.
Officials say, the community center has been a big part of the city for 30 years and it will continue to provide services for families in the future.
Cooper also says, “that the community center is undergoing expansions and renovations. Once it is finished, it will be able to provide services to more than double the number of children and families they currently have.”
