Big Spring School District delivered sad news Friday morning.
A 3rd-grade student passed away in his home unexpectedly.
“Our condolences and thoughts go out to the student’s family,” superintendent Dr. Richard W. Fry said in a letter to Big Spring families. “Our entire staff will continue to embrace our mission to contribute to our students’ social and emotional development, and we will always be attentive to students’ emotional needs at school.”
The school district will have counselors, school psychologists, and additional grief support resources available at Oak Flat Elementary and other buildings where his siblings attend.
It encourages parents to call the school offices for guidance on how to handle and talk about grief with their children.
