Carlisle says no to casino

Carlisle/West Shore

Carlisle Borough won’t be home to a casino.

According to our news exchange partners The Sentinel, Mayor Tim Scott announced at a meeting Thursday night that most borough council members were opposed to the plan.

Last week, a Philadelphia area casino company pitched their plan to bring a casino to the community. Leaders at the company said it would create 250 permanent jobs.

There was a lot of pushback from members of the community who were concerned that the borough would lose it’s charm if a casino opens.

Carlisle already opted out of a mini-casino but can still can change its mind.
