Carlisle senior talks about Danny DeVito’s photo with her cardboard cutout

A photo of Danny DeVito posing with a cardboard cutout of a Carlisle senior is in the national spotlight. The star took the picture after Allison Closs brought a cutout of him to prom.

“I felt happy,” said Closs. “I felt shocked…I love a good story and I love humor, so we definitely have that in common.”

The actor and filmmaker took the picture on the set of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” His costar Rob McElhenney posted it to Instagram.

“He did make a lot of people laugh, a lot of people smile, and I’m about that,” said Closs.

At prom, the cutout wore a tie, a boutonniere, and Crocs. Closs bought the cutout on Amazon, along with the mini-scooter she used to pull it around.

“If I were to bring someone more conventionally sexy like Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum…it would just be awkward,” said Closs.

The cutout was life size: four feet and ten inches.

Closs plans on taking the cutout to college next year.

“He’s funny. He’s short. I  definitely like short,” said Closs. “I’ve been watching movies with him since I was a little kid. Matilda, Hercules.”

Closs will be majoring in Film and Media Studies at Gettsyburg University. She says she hopes to one day work alongside DeVito.

“Danny gets me so that’s what matters,” said Closs.

abc27 News did reach out to DeVito Wednesday, but his publicist says he was filming a new episode of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
