Plans for a new hospital on the West Shore are moving forward.
The Hampden Township Planning Commission gave its approval for Penn State Health to build the new facility as long as it meets a few provisions. Most of the issues Penn State Health will have to address deal with increased traffic and safety concerns.
Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center would be near Wertzville and Good Hope Roads. Plans call for 108 beds.
Some people who live in the area have serious reservations about the significant increase in traffic the hospital would bring.
UPMC Pinnacle already has a hospital nearby.
