Complaints withdrawn after Camp Hill changes meeting policy

Carlisle/West Shore

A self-proclaimed expert on Pennsylvania’s Sunshine Act has withdrawn 18 criminal complaints he filed against all seven Camp Hill borough council members.

Chris Courogen, a former municipal government reporter and ardent supporter of the act, said he withdrew the complaints because the council on Wednesday decided to open committee meetings to the public.

Courogen said past committee meetings were not only closed but weren’t properly advertised, and he says official deliberations took place without the public present – all things the Sunshine Act either requires or restricts.

Courogen said he discovered the issue in the borough manager’s own monthly reports, which detail what the committees discuss.
