Students and parents got their first look Thursday at the newest school in the Cumberland Valley district in 50 years.
Winding Creek Elementary is CV’s first new school since Hampden Elementary opened in 1968.
Unlike other districts that are shrinking, Cumberland Valley is growing and needed more room.
“What makes us a little unique is there are times a school builds a new building and all the kids from that school move to another building,” principal Chad Runkle said. “This is unique from the standpoint of we’re going from seven elementary schools to eight.”
About 850 students from five other schools will attend Winding Creek. School starts Aug. 27.
