A large family with a house full of memories watched it go up in flames overnight.
Seven children and six adults safely escaped the home on Greenmont Drive in East Pennsboro Township, where the fire started around 4 a.m.
At one point, more than 50 firefighters and more than a dozen emergency vehicles were on the scene.
We spoke with a woman who has lived in the house with her husband for 25 years, raising 18 children, including adopted kids and grandchildren. She says she woke up to a loud explosion she thought came from the dryer.
A fire official said there was an explosion somewhere between the basement and first floor. A fire marshall is investigating.
The family had three pets. Two dogs did not make it out.
Neighbors are gathering food and clothing for the family. The Red Cross is also providing temporary lodging, clothing, and food for five adults and eight children.
