Police are looking for a man accused of leading officers on a pursuit in Cumberland County.

Dakota Smith, 24, is being sought on charges including fleeing and eluding, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

The charges stem from a June 18 incident that began in the parking lot of the Walmart on Hartzdale Drive. Lower Allen police said Smith was suspected of using heroin in a green Saturn Ion, and when officers tried to speak to him, he became combative and fled.

The resulting chase in Lower Allen and Hampden townships ultimately was called off because of high speeds and because Smith had been identified as the driver, police said.

Investigators believe Smith is living in the Saturn, possibly with his mother. They said he also has
several warrants for his arrest in Cumberland and Dauphin counties.

Smith and his mother have family ties to the Newport area but are known to frequent the West Shore and Harrisburg, police said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts may call Lower Allen police at 717-238-9676 or Cumberland County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-628-8477.
