Man stabbed after shooting at ex-wife, her husband

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A man broke into a South Middleton Township home and shot at his ex-wife and her husband before the couple grabbed knives and stabbed him, police said.

Joel Paugh, 29, forced his way into the home on Netherby Lane around 12:36 a.m. Friday and began shooting at the couple while they were in their bedroom sleeping, state police in Carlisle said.

Paugh’s ex-wife was shot in the wrist. Paugh was struggling with his ex-wife’s husband when both victims retrieved knives and Paugh was stabbed multiple times, police said.

All three were transported to a hospital. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Paugh is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, burglary, and reckless endangerment. He is in Cumberland County Prison without bail, according to court records.
