Local athletes are being invited to the White House this Wednesday. Players from the Camp Hill Challenger Baseball Program and the Red Land Little League are participating in the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition Field Day.
The Challenger Program gives athletic opportunities to people with disabilities. The kids going on the trip are between the ages of eight and twelve.
“To get acknowledgement from the White House, to come down and be recognized is pretty special,” said Tony Fowler, who is the Challenger Baseball Director. “I think it just shows how wonderful of a program we have here in Camp Hill.”
Fowler says kids will go to different stations on the South Lawn to learn about various sports.
“It’s really special for the kids but also for their families,” said Fowler.
The Challengers say other teams from around the country are invited to the event too.
