Two West Shore School District middle schools will remain closed after Labor Day.
Mold was discovered at Allen and Crossroads Middle Schools last week.
In a message sent to families, the superintendent said the schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday as remediation work continues.
Classes for the district started on Monday, August 27.
Mold was detected at Crossroads Middle School on Tuesday, August 28. The building has been closed since August 29 after more mold was found in more areas of the school. The building was also had some air conditioning issues.
Administrators are hopeful they will be able to open Crossroads on Thursday, September 6.
Mold was discovered in several classrooms at Allen Middle School on Wednesday, August 29. So far eight classrooms have been cleaned but 13 more are still being cleaned in addition to some common areas.
Administrators aren’t sure when they will be able to open Allen. They will provide an update to families on Wednesday.
