No injuries after construction incident at West Shore Hospital

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – No injuries were reported after an incident Thursday morning within the construction site at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital.

A UPMC Pinnacle spokeswoman said a piece of pre-cast panel came loose while construction crews were working to prepare the site for an expansion project.

There are no structural issues with the hospital facility, the spokeswoman said.

Patients and staff in the immediate area were relocated to another part of the hospital as a precaution.

Emergency medical services were routed to other medical facilities while construction crews worked to secure the area. The work was expected to be completed by 7 p.m.

The construction project at West Shore Hospital is adding floors above the emergency department.
