Pets blessed at Carlisle school

Carlisle/West Shore

Students at St. Patrick School in Carlisle were invited to bring their pets for a blessing.

Lots of cats and dogs were on hand for Thursday’s blessing of the animals, as well as some unusual pets.

There was a calf, and Mechalene Miekley brought her family’s goats.

“I live on a farm, so in the past years we’ve been bringing a lot of different animals to the pet blessing – donkeys, horses, rabbits and my dogs, too – so, this is just a new addition to our farm,” Miekley said.

The pets were blessed in the name of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment.
