PORT ROYAL, Pa. (WHTM) – Police have seized 50 dogs and 10 horses from a property in Juniata County.
State police are investigating reports of neglect at the property on Matamoras Road, near Port Royal.
The dogs were removed Thursday evening and taken to the Friendship Fire Company for a veterinary evaluation. Police were working with rescue organizations to find temporary homes.
Veterinarians evaluated the horses Friday.
Cpl. Michael Spada said dead animals were found at the home.
“If you have an animal and you are not providing for the basic care of your animals, you can be charged with animal cruelty,” Spada said. “Those charges can range from summaries all the way up to felonies.”
