Family of Timothy Piazza file suit against former Penn State fraternity members

The family of Timothy J. Piazza have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against 28 former members of a Penn State fraternity.

According to the law firm Kline & Specter, PC, 28 former members of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity have been named as individual defendants in the suit.

The suit claims wrongful death, negligence and conspiracy according tot he complaint.

Piazza was 19 years old, when he consumed dangerous amounts of alcohol at a Beta Theta Pi pledge event in February of 2017.

Piazza then fell down a flight of stairs, fracturing his skull. An investigation found many people saw him, but no-one called for help for at least 12 hours.

The Piazza family attorney, Thomas R. Kline, also says it has reached with Penn State University, without filing a lawsuit, a safety-focused settlement agreement.

Kline says it is aimed at protecting present and future generations of students from harm by ensuring a healthier and safer environment.
