Former Police Commissioner and Mayor of Lemoyne passes away

The West Shore Regional Police say former Police Commissioner and Mayor of Lemoyne, Elmer “Ed” Byrem, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, August 15.

Byrem was the Mayor of Lemoyne Borough for over 20 years, and served as the Commissioner of the West Shore Regional Police from the time it was formed in 1995.

The department say Byrem loved the community, and working hand-in-hand with fellow police officers and public safety workers.

Byrem’s father served as a Lemoyne police officer, and one of his daughters also became involved in law enforcement, serving as a Sheriff Deputy in Colorado.

Byrem was 76 years old.
