GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — One of the most important speeches in American history took place 158 years ago Friday.

On Friday, Gettysburg hosted its annual commemoration of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Lincoln wrote the speech to reunite a nation fractured by the Civil War.

As powerful as it was, the speech lasted only two or three minutes.

There will be a parade in Gettysburg on Saturday.
