Archeologists hunt for lost treasures at Fort Hunter

State archeologists continue to dig up the past at Fort Hunter Mansion and Park.

This is the 12th season for an archeology dig. So far this year, they’ve found a 4,000-year-old arrowhead.

It hasn’t been all fun for the group. The summer heat and all that rain put a downer on their progress.

“I think the first two days we only worked partial days because the weather was so bad and then it started raining, so we’ve actually lost a large amount of time. We probably only put in half the number of days we could have had good weather,” said Kurt Carr, the senior curator of archeology for the Pennsylvania State Museum.

The dig is open for public viewing weekdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
