A Dauphin County couple is accused of using the credit and debit cards of an elderly family member to steal more than $150,000 over five years.

Chester “Rob” Garman III, 54, and Kathy A. Garman, 62, of Swatara Township, were charged Friday with felony counts of theft and access device fraud.

Lower Swatara Township police said the charges are the result of an investigation that began in January.

They said the Garmans used the elderly man’s credit card, accessed his bank accounts, and used his bank cards without his knowledge from 2013 through 2017.

The 86-year-old victim lost $153,168.83 during that time.

The two were arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 31.
