Dauphin County touts success of homebuyers program

Dauphin County commissioners are celebrating 20 years of the county’s first-time homebuyers program.

The county helped 124 families buy their first home last year, including 45 in Harrisburg.

The county provides up to a $3,000 in loan assistance to eligible homeowners to put toward their down payment or closing costs.

The program is financed through a $13 affordable housing fee that is added to all mortgages and deeds in the county.
