Fatal fire in Harrisburg ruled accidental

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Investigators have determined the cause of a house fire that took the life of a young girl on Monday.

Senior Deputy Fire Chief Michael Souder said the fire at 2337 Logan Street started in the kitchen and was accidental in nature. He said the house did have working smoke alarms.

The 3-year-old girl, Willow Williams, died from smoke inhalation in a second-floor bedroom.

GoFundMe account has been set up to help her family with funeral expenses.

Two firefighters were injured while attempting to rescue Williams.

Souder said Lt. Jeremey Saul was treated at UPMC Pinnacle and will require additional treatment for multiple burns he received while searching for the girl. He was released from the hospital on Monday.

Another firefighter suffered a cut from broken glass while entering the home to look for Williams. He was treated at the hospital and released.
