HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - A Harrisburg man who shot and killed another man before taking his own life Thursday evening had been charged with assaulting a woman earlier in the day.
Daniel Finkel, 29, was released after an arraignment on the charges. He returned to his home in the 3000 block of North Second Street and found 38-year-old Jeremy Cadwallader helping the woman move out, police said in a news release Friday.
Finkel confronted the two and told them they were going to die. He shot Cadwallader multiple times on the porch, then went to the sidewalk where he then turned the gun on himself, police said.
Cadwallader was taken to a hospital where he died.
The woman ran from Finkel and was not struck by the gunfire.
Finkel had been charged with simple assault and harassment in Silver Spring Township, in Cumberland County.
According to charging documents, Finkel's ex-girlfriend told police she slammed a car door on her hand and then picked her up and threw her to the ground. She said Finkel had confronted her after finding her having lunch with a male friend.
The woman told police she was still living with Finkel after their break-up. She said he had made statements about killing her cat and destroying her property, and she was afraid he was going to kill her.
Police said their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call 717-558-6900.
