Harrisburg police named National Night Out rookie of the year

The Harrisburg Bureau of Police stepped up to the plate and was named rookie of the year.

In August, Harrisburg police hosted their first-ever National Night Out at Sunshine Park. The event attracted 1,500 people, 50 vendors and outside law enforcement.

For all that, the parent company that sponsors National Night Out named the bureau a rookie of the year.

Only three agencies out of 800 are eligible to receive the honor.
