Harrisburg superintendent vote may have violated rules

Harrisburg

Some Harrisburg school board members claim the vote to retain the district’s superintendent may have violated procedural rules.

Last month, the school board voted to open up the superintendent position to other candidates. Dr. Sybil Knight-Burney currently holds the position.

On Monday, a vote to rescind the original decision passed 5-4, keeping Knight-Burney on the job.

However, some board members believe the vote may have violated procedural rules because it would require a two-thirds majority vote to pass.
