Horse rescue at risk of closing

Harrisburg

Pennsylvania Racehorse Rehoming, Rehabilitation and Rescue needs to raise $10,000 in the next 10 days to keep its barn doors open.

The rescue has helped more than 200 racehorses ease into retirement, but the costs are adding up.

“It roughly costs us approximately $300 to $350 a month per horse to keep them here on the farm, and we have 15 to 20 horses at any one time on this farm,” said Dr. Brian Langlois, a PARR board member.

The charity takes on horses with difficult medical issues that require the animals to live out their lives on PARR’s farm.

If the organization cannot raise the money, it will look into relocating the horses or possibly euthanizing some.
