A multimillion-dollar construction project begins Monday morning in Dauphin County. A 1.52-mile stretch of Vine Street through Londonderry Township will be limited to single lane traffic, shutting down the passing lanes both northbound and southbound.
The road averages more than 10,000 travelers a day. PennDOT is asking any drivers who passed through this area to slow down, be alert and obey work zone signs. To avoid delays drivers should seek an alternate route.
The construction work marks the start of a $3.7-million project to rehabilitate Vine Street from Lower Swatara Township into Derry Township.
Construction includes replacing the existing median guide rail with concrete curb pavement patching and replacing drainage pipes. They will also be reconstructing the road shoulder removing the top layer of asphalt adding new road signs and pavement markings.
The seven-month project is set to wrap up by the end of November.
