A Dauphin County man was arrested for attempted homicide and related charges after he attacked his ex-girlfriend in her Hershey home, Derry Township police said.

Manuel Gonzalez, 35, of Lower Paxton Township, entered the home in the Palmdale neighborhood early Friday while the victim was away and waited for her to return. He struggled with the woman and choked her until she was able to free herself and flee, police said in a news release.

The woman was taken to a medical facility for treatment of her injuries.

Gonzalez was arrested near his home. In addition to attempted homicide, he is charged with burglary, aggravated assault, strangulation, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, simple assault, and criminal trespass.

He was being held at the Dauphin County Prison without bail.
