HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Police have released the name of a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a Capital Area Transit bus in Harrisburg.
Daniel Harmon, 63, of York County, was struck Monday afternoon at the intersection of North Second and Market streets.
Police continue to investigate the accident that occurred as the CAT bus pulled out of a transfer station around 4:45 p.m.
Some witnesses said Harmon was in a crosswalk and may have been looking at a cell phone or other electronic device. Others who were at the scene say he was not distracted.
"All those things are being looked into to determine if it was a factor in this case," police Captain Gabriel Olivera said.
CAT is conducting an internal investigation. The bus driver has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome, which is standard procedure.
