A Newport woman is charged after she assaulted an officer and resisted her arrest near Harrisburg last week, police said.

Julia M. Foster, 26, ran from officers who stopped her for a traffic violation in the 4100 block of North Front Street, Susquehanna Township police said.

She was eventually captured but refused to follow commands and then kicked an officer, police said.

Foster also is accused of providing a false name to the officers.

She was taken into custody and positively identified, then charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, false ID, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a summary traffic violation.

She was placed in Dauphin County Prison after failing to post $75,000 cash bail.
