Police: Woman taken from motel found safe, suspect arrested

A man accused of kidnapping a woman from a northern Dauphin County motel has been arrested and the woman is safe, police said Friday morning.

State police said 61-year-old Reginald Reaves was taken into custody without incident after a traffic stop in Wormleysburg around 7:45 a.m. He was alone in the vehicle.

Camp Hill police found 49-year-old Jean Marie Howell a short distance away, unharmed, at a bar in Enola.

Two strong phone tips from the public helped to locate Howell and Reaves, police said.

Authorities had been looking for Howell since she was reportedly taken from the Red Rose Motel in Halifax Township around midnight Wednesday.

Troopers were told that Reaves went to a motel room where Howell was staying with her husband and threatened the couple. He assaulted the husband then forced Howell out of the room and into an SUV.

Reaves reportedly had a relationship with Jean Marie Howell while she was separated from her husband.

Reaves is charged with kidnapping, burglary, and related charges.
