Report: Harrisburg best place to live in Pennsylvania

Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Pennsylvania’s capital city is the best place to live in the state, and nearby Lancaster is the best place in the country to retire, according to rankings by U.S. News and World Report.

Harrisburg ranked 44th among the nation’s best places to live, higher than any other city in the state.

U.S. News and World Report says the Harrisburg area has more of a small-town atmosphere than many of the East Coast’s larger metro areas and one of the country’s most affordable housing markets.

The report also cites quick drives to Amish country, Gettysburg National Military Park, and Hersheypark.

Lancaster ranked 48th in the nation for best places to live. York came in at 87.
