Second victim of fatal Harrisburg fire identified

HARRISBURG, Pa (WHTM) – The Dauphin County Coroner has identified the second victim of a fatal fire in Harrisburg.

Julene Jarosky, 40, died of smoke inhalation in a fire early Sunday morning at Riverview Manor Apartments on N. Front St. in Harrisburg. She was declared dead shortly after being removed from the building.

A second person pulled from the building, Ryan Hoffman, 35, was taken to Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital where he died shortly after arriving.

Fire officials say there were working smoke alarms in the condominium, as well as an activated fire alarm system inside the building, but there were no fire sprinkler systems which could have prevented the tragedy.

The fire chief says the fire was accidental and started with an electrical issue near an entertainment center in the living room.

Fire officials say it appears the couple tried to fight the fire.
