Sex offender arrested for unlawful contact with 2 teen girls

A convicted sex offender is charged with having inappropriate contact with two 13-year-old girls.

Thomas E. Fornwald, 63, of Lykens, was charged Wednesday with indecent assault, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with minors.

One of the girls reported that Fornwald picked her up in a “bear hug” from behind and grabbed her breasts with his hands. She said the incident occurred when she was visiting a friend at Fornwald’s home after school on Dec 11, state police said in a news release.

Another girl reported that Fornwald grabbed her hips and breasts, and pulled up her shirt, during a sleepover with friends at the home on Dec. 28, police said.

Fornwald was placed in Dauphin County Prison on $100,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing was tentatively scheduled for March 13.

Fornwald must register his whereabouts with police for the rest of his life due to a 1996 conviction for rape, according to Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law website.
