A Lancaster man is facing charges after police say he led them on a cross-county pursuit earlier this month.

According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Jerell P. Stewart was observed by police making more than a dozen traffic violations on May 24th in a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck which was reported stolen.

The truck’s owner reported the theft to Manheim Borough Police on May 17th.

A week later, Ephrata Police spotted the truck on East Fulton Street, and a license plate reader alerted the officer that it was stolen.

Police attempted to pull the driver over, but instead officers say the truck sped off, driving through New Holland.

The pursuit ended in Strasburg, where the driver, police later identified as Stewart was taken into custody.

Police charged him with fleeing police, receiving stolen property, and driving on a suspended license.
