Four people have been charged in the 2016 killing of a Lancaster County man.

Kristopher A. Smith, 42, of Narvon; Christopher J. Lyles, 32, of Chester; Brandon J. Bills, 36, of Coatesville; and Michael P. Baker, 39, of Glen Mills, are charged with criminal homicide, robbery, burglary in the shooting death of Dennis Pitch.

Pitch, 52, had been shot multiple times in the head and chest when relatives found his body in his home, in the 5800 block of Timothy Drive in Salisbury Township, on Dec. 4, 2016.

The house had been ransacked and police said Pitch’s murder most likely occurred between the afternoon of Dec. 2 and the early morning of Dec. 3.

According to the criminal complaint, Pitch had told numerous people that he planned to make a large cash withdrawal from his retirement account days before he was killed.

Bills told police he was with his co-defendants on the night of Dec. 2 when Smith announced plans to take the money and drove the group to a nearby church.

Bills said he kept watch while the others retrieved guns from the trunk and went to Pitch’s house. He said he heard several gunshots from the home. When the others returned, Bills said Smith told him “it didn’t go as planned.”

Smith and Bills are in Lancaster County Prison without bail. Lyles and Baker are in Delaware County Prison on unrelated charges.
