Columbia holds public meeting about riverfront park redevelopment project

Lancaster

A Lancaster County community wants to redevelop its riverfront park. Leaders in Columbia held a public meeting about it Tuesday night.

They want to create more water access, more lawn, pavilions, and additional parking. Another unique idea: they want to build a 140-foot hammock that people could hang out on.

“We have a lot of ideas of how to celebrate what’s so special about this place, not just Columbia as a town but literally this location because it goes back hundreds of years, thousands of years in terms of the history itself,” said Andrew Schwartz of Redevelopment Columbia River Park.

The proposed project would take 10 years to complete.
