A Columbia man is accused of raping a teenage girl.

Edwin Davis, 43, is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault, and related counts.

Columbia police said officers were called to the 100 block of South Second Street on Friday evening. A resident of the area had called 911 to report that a teenage girl approached her and claimed that she’d just been sexually assaulted.

Officers were unable to locate the girl or confirm an assault occurred until a second 911 caller reported her sister was sexually assaulted and the man who did it was outside of her home. Davis was detained near the 911 caller’s home.

The victim of the assault was located at a local hospital, police said.

Davis was charged Saturday and placed in Lancaster County Prison on $500,000 cash bail.
