Crews clean up after fire at Lancaster hotel

Lancaster

The cleanup and investigation are underway at Eden Resort and Suites where a fire burned the roof of a villa Tuesday night.

“When I saw the flames, that was of great concern because I have not had that situation before,” said Stephen Sikking, a managing partner of Eden Resorts and Suites.

The fire started around 9:45 p.m. in Villa 400. No one was injured, but 10 people were impacted by the fire. A Manheim Township firefighter was taken to a hospital and has since been released.

“It’s pretty clear on where it started because of the way the fire is so concentrated to a particular area, but the fire marshal was here this morning and I have not been told yet what he believes the cause is,” Sikking said.

The fire marshal is still investigating the cause.

Eden Resorts and Suites says the fire will not impact future events like weddings or conferences.

“The inside is extensively damaged, so I have to wait to see what the result is of the insurance company and the inspection from the fire and so forth, but I would suspect, looking at it, my gut instinct tells me that building is going to be gone,” Sikking said.
