Farmer’s market stand holder convicted of groping customer

MANHEIM, Pa. (WHTM) – A New York man has been convicted of groping a woman last year at a farmer’s market in Lancaster County.

Zhong Wu Shan, 38, was found guilty of a misdemeanor indecent assault charge after a non-jury trial.

The district attorney’s office said Shan was a stand holder selling purses and wallets at Root’s Country Market when he groped the woman on July 31. When the woman asked for a price of a wallet, Shan hugged her, put his hand into her dress and said, “If you let me do this, you can have it for free.”

The woman fled and called her mother and a friend, who contacted police. When an officer asked Shan what happened and demonstrated what was reported, Shan said, “That’s the deal,” prosecutors said.

Shan will be sentenced after a background investigation is completed, in about three months.
