Lancaster police: Car windows smashed in rash of thefts

Lancaster police say there have been 20 reports of thefts from unoccupied vehicles in the northeast section of the city so far this year, and most of the cars had a window smashed.

The majority of the thefts have occurred January 21 through January 28.

Police said the thieves took items that were left unsecured or in plain view. The majority of incidents occurred during the overnight hours.

Police reminded residents to remove items of value or secure them out of sight.

Anyone with information about the thefts should call the police department at 717-735-3301.
