Man arrested after firing gun inside his home

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) - A Manheim Township man is accused of endangering his young child by firing a gun inside his home.

Justin D. Troup, 30, was unloading the 12-gauge shotgun after consuming alcoholic beverages on Sunday evening. The shotgun fired, discharging a slug that struck a crib, a bookcase, and a wall in the home, township police said in a news release.

No one was hit, but Troup’s 4-year-old child was lying next to him when the gun fired, police said.

Troup was charged with endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangerment. He was placed in Lancaster County Prison on $50,000 bail.
