A Lancaster man is accused of causing burns and other injuries to a 5-year-old girl.
Axel Ortiz-Gonzalez, 32, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault of a child, three counts of simple assault, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Police began an investigation after the suspected abuse was reported to Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency by a school nurse for the School District of Lancaster.
The investigation determined that the girl on separate occasions had sustained a bruised eye and a severe burn on her buttocks and lower back. While the initial injuries were under investigation, it was learned that the child had sustained a fractured arm, police said.
The child was then taken into police protective custody.
Ortiz-Gonzalez was arrested Tuesday and placed in Lancaster County Prison on $500,000 bail.
