Someone’s exotic reptile has been captured in Lititz.

What kind of reptile? Well, for the public, that’s a mystery.

Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary said a resident found the reptile while mowing her grass on Tuesday.

Forgotten Friend is providing care for the reptile until the owner is found.

“We have reason to believe the owner may have put their exotic pet outside to bask in the natural sunlight, which is beneficial to some species, when he managed to wander off,” Rothacker said.

So why the mystery?

“This is a desirable species among collectors, and dishonest people may come forward to claim him if we simply post his picture,” Rothacker said. “For that reason, we are not disclosing exactly what species of reptile was found.”

The reptile is either a Burmese python, Australian carpet python, American alligator, African tortoise, African monitor lizard, bearded dragon, or Argentine tegu.

“We will tell you it is one of the following species so only the correct owner can contact us to claim their missing pet,” Rothacker said.

The owner may call Forgotten Friend at 717-330-3015.
